Hey lovely,
Becoming a Pilates instructor shaped me in ways I never expected. Beyond movement and teaching, it changed how I manage my time, take care of my body, and show up for myself daily.
Over time, these habits slowly became part of my lifestyle and honestly, they’ve made me feel more disciplined, grounded, and intentional overall.
Here are 7 habits I’ve adapted ever since becoming a Pilates instructor:
1. Being Extremely Punctual
When you teach classes, timing matters. Clients rely on you, and showing up late affects more than just yourself. Becoming an instructor taught me to respect time deeply, not only for work, but in everyday life too.
Now, I naturally plan ahead, leave earlier, and value being on time because it reflects reliability, discipline, and respect for others.
2. Staying Organised
Balancing classes, personal life, content creation, and rest days requires organisation. I’ve become much more intentional with planning my schedule, keeping track of tasks, and structuring my days in a way that feels manageable instead of chaotic.
Being organised gives me mental clarity and helps me stay calm even during busy weeks.
3. Hydrating Myself Properly
Teaching multiple classes while constantly moving made me realise how important hydration actually is. I used to underestimate it, but now drinking enough water has become non-negotiable for my energy, focus, and recovery.
It’s such a small habit, but it genuinely affects how you feel physically and mentally throughout the day.
4. Looking After My Health More Seriously
As an instructor, your body is part of your work. That made me more aware of recovery, sleep, nutrition, stretching, and listening to my body when it needs rest.
I’ve learned that taking care of your health isn’t selfish, it’s necessary if you want to show up fully for yourself and others.
5. Planning My Schedule Ahead of Time
One of the biggest habits I’ve developed is planning my month in advance. I have to balance teaching schedules, workouts, content shoots, social plans, and proper rest days.
Without planning, burnout happens quickly. Learning how to intentionally schedule both work and rest changed my relationship with productivity completely.
6. Becoming More Aware of My Energy
Teaching requires constant energy output, not just physically, but emotionally too. I’ve become more mindful about protecting my energy, taking breaks when needed, and being intentional about who and what drains me.
Not every moment needs to be filled. Rest is productive too.
7. Romanticising Discipline
Pilates taught me that discipline doesn’t have to feel harsh. It can feel soft, intentional, and empowering. Showing up consistently, moving your body, staying organised, and taking care of yourself slowly becomes part of who you are.
And honestly, that consistency changes your confidence more than anything else.
Becoming a Pilates instructor didn’t just change my body, it changed my lifestyle, mindset, and habits completely.
And the older I get, the more I realise that the smallest daily habits are what shape your life the most.
Love,
