Hey lovelies,
Being a Pilates instructor at 21 has taught me more than I ever expected, about the body, about discipline, and about the way mindset shapes results. Whether you’re just starting your Pilates journey or thinking about teaching, here’s the best advice I can give:
1. Consistency Beats Perfection
You don’t need to be flawless at every move. Showing up regularly, even for 20 minutes, builds strength, confidence, and muscle memory over time.
2. Listen to Your Body
Your body will tell you what it needs, whether it’s rest, a stretch, or a challenge. Pilates is about control, not punishment.
3. Movement Is Self-Love
Every class is an opportunity to treat your body with care. Think of Pilates as a ritual, not a chore. When you love the process, the results follow naturally.
4. Mindset Matters
Confidence grows in small steps. Celebrate every improvement, no matter how tiny. Replace self-criticism with encouragement, it changes everything.
5. Surround Yourself With Inspiration
Teachers, classmates, mentors, find people who lift you up and motivate you. Community makes movement feel more joyful and less intimidating.
6. Invest in Tools That Motivate You
The right mat, grip socks, or activewear can make a class feel elevated. When you feel good in your gear, you show up differently.
7. Keep Learning and Evolving
Even as an instructor, I’m always learning. Pilates isn’t just exercises, it's anatomy, alignment, flow, and creativity. Stay curious and humble.
8. Rest Is Just as Important
Your body grows and heals when you rest. Sleep, stretch, and take care of yourself outside the studio. Balance is everything.
9. Make It Fun
Add your own style, playlist, or flair to your practice. Pilates should feel joyful, not like a checklist.
10. Trust the Process
Strength, flexibility, and confidence don’t happen overnight. Show up, breathe, and trust that your body and mind are transforming, little by little.
Pilates taught me discipline, patience, and self-love at 21. But the biggest lesson? Showing up for yourself consistently is the best advice I can give.
Love,
Diana Jeffri x
